I am guessing they most likely ARE different that what you are thinking. They aren't edible. They are decorative - for babyshowers in lieu of a real cake (they are safer for mom to avoid sugar related complications like gestational diabetes and such that you might not know about). For a frame of reference, his body (the base sphere) was about the size of a canteloupe. His head was the size of a tangerine. As for the diaper cakes, they are for baby showers. Instead of having a cake for the mom-to-be, we build a centerpiece that LOOKS like a cake, but made with individually rolled diapers, and other baby-related things. The reason I said they looked "deceptively edible" is because often times people THINK it's an actual cake. Then mom gets to take it home and use all the things built in for her baby.
